Winterboard Will Make Ya Sluggish
Before the OS 3.0 jailbreak, I was on the 2.2 jailbreak. The jailbreak wasn’t cracked fully or something so that Winterboard would never run, so I never got the chance to try it. But with this jailbreak, Winterboard works. And, even though there are tons of sources online that talk about how Winterboard slows down performance, I can share my experience.
Winterboard does, for a fact, make your iPhone sluggish to a degree. The more crap you have on, the more sluggish it’ll make your iPhone. But even having Winterboard change just your springboard background, or having it just change your sounds, will make a tiny difference.
In a nut shell, Winterbaord will make your iPhone sluggish… Like the new iPhone 3GS? Like the speed and fast response of it? Well then don’t install and use Winterboard ‘cuz it’ll make your iPhone that much further from it.
My advice, if you want to change your sounds… use Winterboard, create a theme or modify one yourself and play around with sounds without messing with the system UI sounds themselves. Then, once your cool with what you have, back up and replace your system sounds with the ones from the theme. Then, uninstall Winterboard. And do the same if you want to replace certain images of the operating system.
But, if you want an image background on your springboard, that can’t be done without something like Winterboard.
Peace, J
