For a few days, my personal email wasn’t working on the Neocell. I use Gmail with Microsoft Exchange to manage my email, contacts and calendar. For some reason, it wasn’t bringing in any new email. The “busy” icon would just spin forever and the mail app would keep trying to check for mail.
I tried turning off the mail account and turning it back on, and that brought in some email… but then it started doing the same thing again.
What was the fix? I had to delete the account and add it in again. Now everything seems to be workin’ again. I’m hopin’ it doesn’t start back up again. If it does, I’ll let’cha know.

Hmm, this is odd… For the first time since I’ve had the Neocell, the mail app (which I use with Gmail) is showing a wrong count of new mail on the icon, but shows the right number in the app itself. Check out the screen shots below to see what I’m talkin’ about…
It shows 23 new mail, even though I only have 12. Gmail says I only have 12 unread messages online, so I definately don’t have 23. I’ve gone through and loaded “more messages” in the Mail app a **** load’a times, thinking that’ll fix it… nope. I’ve also checked out my “Sent”, “Spam” and other folders but everything’s fine.
It’s a weird issue, and I’m sure I’m not the first to have it either. I don’t want to remove all my mail settings and add them back in again, I’d like to find a fix to this without doin’ that. So I’m gonna’ spend some time online and see what I can find.

As it turns out, my iPhone’s account settings were kinda’ funny. I would enter my info for Google’s Exchange services, and the calandar and contacts would work, but email wouldn’t. So I’d have to enter a seperate account under the email account settings. I’ve been doin’ this since I first got my iPhone.
Buy lately, it started working for both services. It started about five days ago. Check out the screen shot to see what I mean.
I’m not sure why the account settings are now working, it that’s fine. I’ll just now stick with just one account.

It’s been what… two weeks since OS 3.0 came out, and I’ve explored most of the new features by now. One of the new features of OS 3.0 is bein’ able to send (and receive) email invites to people for events in the calendar app.
So the first time to test this out came last night… I’ve been emailin’ a bud from my home town about seein’ the Brüno movie. When ya live an hour away and work a lot, you gotta’ do a lotta’ plannin’ in advanced. I had a date set in my calendar, July 10th, the day the movie comes out… and added my bud as a person attending.
We then realized we wanted my girl to go, so I started emailin’ her, and she said she’d go. So I invited her to the event. But then she emailed me she couldn’t make it the 10th, so after a lot of back and forth emails and forwards between the three if us, we finally set on that following Tuesday after the movie comes out.
So I went and changed the event. I’m thinkin’ “Good, now at least they’ll all ve emailed about the change.”. Nope… Well if they’re not bein’ emailed about changes, what’s the point of being able to invite people to calendar events?
I searched online and found out the answer…
“the ability to invite attendees to a meeting from your iPhone – introduced in 3.0 – doesn’t work with Google Calendar at this time”
So there’s our answer… If you use Google Calendar, like I do, then invitations aren’t workin’ yet. It ain’t'a ‘thang though…

Man, you know I ain’t feelin’ this new version of Gmail.com mobile. I mean, I handle all my mail from the Neocell’s email app. But there are times I’ll go on gmail.com from my iPhone for whatever reason. And I’m hatin’ this new version of Gmail mobile.
It’s been runnin’ so slow for the past week, slower than any other web sites I visit. I’m fact, the older version runs faster and is just as easy to use then the new version.
When I have to go on Gmail.com, I’m clickin’ on the “Older” link each time.
