If you tried it with a Verizon iPhone 4 and downloaded one of the configurations would it mess up the phone

Man Todd, I don't know if I would mess around with tethering unauthorized now. I mean, AT&T now allows tethering. So I assume if you got tethering to work on the old OS 3 version, AT&T may decide to charge you $20 for tethering. If that happens, and your using the old "unlimited data" plan still, they'll bump you to one of the capped plans (the $25 a month 2 GB plan PLUS $20 extra for tetheringt).

IF that were to happen, you may be like "Oh well, got a $20 charge this month for tryin' to do unauthorized tethering. No big deal." but you'll be surprised when you realize AT&T will NOT let you go back to the "unlimited data" plan for $30 a month. That plan doesn't exist anymore and, once you ever move out of it, you can never go back. Never...

I don't find the unlimited plan useful any ways though.

But here's a better question; why are you messin' with OS 3? Why aren't you using iOS 4? If you are using iOS 4 and wondering if this method will work, of course not. It don't even work for OS 3.3.

My advice, if you haven't done so already, is upgrade to iOS 4 and forget about this whole tethering garbage. Yes, you can now do tethering officially, but it costs $20 extra AND it eats into the same pool of data as your regular plan.

Yeah, what Keith had said above, OS 3.1.3 DOES break the ability to run your own tethering profile. It won't work if your not jailbroken. Avoid OS 3.1.3 if you want to keep tethering and your not jailbroken.
