No Search For Email, Huh?

April16

I was doin’ business today and someone said an attachment they sent to me via my Gmail needed to be open when I was out somewhere. I said no prob, but then realized the problem that you can’t search mail, and it was taking way too long (freezing) to load up “older messages”.

That won’t be a problem when OS 3.0 comes out. It’ll include a global search (Ooo, big whoop, Pocket PCs have had that for years. Let’s be real.) But, that won’t solve the problem. Unless they allow the Mail program to store more than the small amount it does now, that global search won’t be that useful for old email because the Mail app only holds so many messages. If you need to search for something that came in, let’s say a month ago, searching for it won’t find it.

The solution? For Gmail, if your online, go directly to Gmail.com and search that way. Don’t worry, although it’s a bummer to have to go on Safari to search, the good news is that searching from Safari Gmail.con is the same as searching from normal Gmail.com. Anything you’d expect (for the most part) is there for ya online.

So, that’s the solution. Wanna’ search your mail? You can do it as long as your online.

Pandora Update Makes Background Play Better

April16

Wow… That’s all I say is wow to the update for Pandora. They didn’t do much to the look and feel of Pandora, but what they did was make Pandora use much less RAM.

This is a great thing because, before you couldn’t minimize (with the free jailbroken app Backgrounder) Pandora without it crashing (closing) when you try to do anything else, like open Safari. But they’ve made Pandora much lighter on CPU and RAM. Right now I’m writing this post from the free, sexy WordPress app while I got Pandora playin’ in the background. So nice…

See, before this update, if I tried to run WordPress while Pandora was running in the background, one of two things would happen; either Pandora would stop a few seconds after WordPress was open, or the system would be so slow, such as typing, that you’d be forced to just go out and close Pandora so you could get work done.

I remember bein’ at work, listening to Pandora, and I would need to access the calculator or calander for a sec. I’d minimize Pandora and it couldn’t even run in the background to open the calculator or something. But now it’s so much better becase Pandora’s lighter.

Bought Adblock; It’s Worth It

April11

So, I decided to buy Adblock. For those of you that don’t know, Adblock is, well, just like Adblock Plus for Firefox (FYI, I use Google Chrome with Privoxy), but Adblock is for iPhone’s Safari. It blocks ads in Safari. And, it’s a jaolbroken only app… yet another one of our perks.

Well I broke down and decided to buy it, via Paypal, for $3.23. Some people that know me would say this is the first and only app I’ve ever paid for, and the only reason I paid for it was because I couldn’t find it online to steal… but that of course would be a no-no.

So do I think it’s worth it? Oh heck yeah. Blocking ads is one of the most guilty-pleasures of browsing online. Going to a news article web site where they think they’re slick **** by polluting the screen garbage advertising… and seein’ none of it. Oh yeah… so nice. And let’s not forget how ads make loading pages much slower too.

Now that I’ve got it, browsing’s so nice. I’ve been usin’ ad blocking software before most people, and since then haven’t gone without ad blocking software. Since getting the NeoCell, I’ve been doin’ most of my browsing from the NeoCell so seein’ all this digital garbage all over the screen’s been a big deal to me. Gettin’ Adblock made browsing the net feel more like browsing from my desktop or laptop.

One thing I don’t like is the price though… it really should be free. Kinda’ ****** up that we’re paying someone money to not display ads. Ads are the way web sites make money off you, and I do think it’s messed up another comany, no better than them, is making money by offering ad blocking software.

I hope one of two things happen. Either someone creates a free ad blocking program, or that someone cracks this program and spreads it online so that people won’t have to throw their money away like I have.

But… until that happens, if your going to spend the money, is Adblock worth it? Oh heck ya.

Apple To Reach One Billion Apps

April10

So Apple is about to have one billion apps downloaded from the app store. They have a web page that counts up to the one billionth download.

And in addition to that, if you download an app (it can be free) before Apple reaches its goal, your entered for a chanse to win a bunch of cool stuff. Haha, if I won some of those Apple produces, I’d sell’em online and then buy a Windows product for about half that price. Hey, I’m just bein’ real.

Peace, J
